The Challenge

The Bee Conservatory is a Sacramento-based nonprofit dedicated to bee rescue and conservation. They provide free bee swarm removal and relocation across the Sacramento region — no extermination, just safe, humane rescue that protects both property owners and our vital pollinators.

They needed a website that could serve multiple audiences: Sacramento residents who discover a bee swarm and need help, potential donors and volunteers who want to support the mission, and community members looking to learn about bee conservation.

Verlua built the site pro bono because the mission matters. Bee populations face real threats, and organizations doing hands-on conservation work deserve a digital presence that matches the quality of their efforts.

The Solution

We designed and built a modern, mobile-first website that puts the mission front and center. The homepage hero immediately communicates what the organization does — "Saving Bee Families. Protecting Our Future." — with a clear call-to-action for reporting swarms.

The design uses warm golden tones and close-up bee photography to create an emotional connection. Every page balances education with action: visitors learn why bees matter while being guided toward reporting a swarm, donating, or volunteering.

The site was built on Next.js for fast page loads and strong SEO performance, ensuring that Sacramento residents searching for bee removal find a humane, conservation-first option rather than an exterminator.

Community Impact

Why We Built This for Free

Verlua is a business, but we're also part of a community. The Bee Conservatory does critical work rescuing and relocating bee swarms across Sacramento — work that protects both people and the pollinators our food systems depend on.

Organizations doing this kind of hands-on conservation work often run on tight budgets. A professional website shouldn't be a luxury they can't afford. We donated our time and skills because a strong online presence helps them rescue more bees, recruit more volunteers, and raise more funds.

This is what it looks like when a web agency uses its skills for something bigger than business.
