Four channels

What does a home service marketing agency do?

It puts your company in each spot a homeowner checks on Google, then makes sure the visit turns into a call or an estimate request. The website and Business Profile come first, since the other channels point to them. SEO, ads or both come next, depending on your trade and how soon you need calls.

Website
What it does
Service pages for each job you do, city pages for the towns you cover, click-to-call and a short estimate form.
When it pays off
From day one. Search ads, SEO and your Business Profile all send people to it, and prospects often check it before they call.
Contractor website design
Local SEO
What it does
Gets your service pages, city pages and cost or how-to guides into Google’s organic results.
When it pays off
Takes months, not days. Organic clicks carry no per-click cost, so it suits companies planning to stay in their market.
Local SEO services
Google Business Profile
What it does
Your listing in the map results: categories, services, service area, photos, and a steady flow of reviews with replies.
When it pays off
Profile and listing fixes can show up in Maps within weeks. Reviews and local pages build over several months.
How to rank in the map pack
Local Services Ads & Google Ads
What it does
Local Services Ads put you in the Google Verified box at the top and charge per valid lead. Search ads charge per click and send people to your site.
When it pays off
Soon after Google finishes verification, for eligible trades with someone answering the phone fast. Ad spend is paid to Google directly.
LSA and Google Ads management

Where does each channel show up on Google?

One search, four places your company can appear. Local Services Ads and Search ads are paid. The map results and organic results aren't billed per click, but they take steady work to earn and keep.

Every spot ends the same way: a call, or a visit to your website that becomes an estimate request. That's why the site comes first, with call and form tracking built in.

Trades we work with

Which home-service trades do we work with?

Each trade below has its own page on what we build for it. Five also have a dedicated SEO page covering the searches their customers type. Where we've built a site in or next to that trade, it's named on the card.

Work outside these nine trades? See every industry we build for.

Results

How have the home-service sites we built grown in Google search?

Six home-service websites we built that have enough Search Console history to compare. Sites with too little data yet are left out. Each is measured over two equal 90-day windows: Jun 18–Sep 15, 2026 against Mar 20–Jun 17, 2026. The numbers are organic search clicks, people who found the site on Google and clicked through. They are not leads or booked jobs.

How it works

How does a home-service marketing engagement work?

Five steps, from the first call to the monthly report. Scope and timing are set on the discovery call, based on how many services and towns your site needs to cover.

Already have a site that works? We can skip the rebuild and start with local SEO and your Business Profile. More detail on how we run projects.

  1. 1
    Start

    Discovery call

Thirty minutes on your trade, the jobs that pay best, the towns you want more work in, and who answers the phone. We look at your current website, Google Business Profile and any ad accounts with you.

You get a recommendation and a quote.
  2. 2
    Launch months

    Website build or rebuild

Service pages for each job type, city pages for the towns you cover, click-to-call, a short estimate form, and call and form tracking. You review the page structure, content and design before the build begins.

A common plan bills $2,500/mo for the first 2 months, site work included. One-time project billing ($2,500 – $5,000) is available too.
  3. 3
    Every month

Local SEO and Google Business Profile

New and improved service and city pages, content for the questions buyers ask, Google Business Profile optimization, local citation cleanup, technical upkeep, and a review request after each finished job.

Ongoing SEO at $1,500/mo, month to month.
  4. 4
    Optional

Local Services Ads and Google Ads

For eligible trades: your LSA profile and Google Verified paperwork, budget and lead goals, weekly lead review with feedback on bad leads, and Search campaigns for job types LSA doesn’t cover.

You approve the budget before anything spends, and pay Google directly.
  5. 5
    Every month

    Reporting

A monthly report from Google Search Console, plus the calls and form requests the site brings in. If you run ads, cost per booked job by channel.

You compare the numbers with your own booked work.

Pricing

How much does home service marketing cost?

Most Verlua engagements for local businesses use two monthly rates: about $2,500/mo during launch months (often when redesign or heavy setup is included), then about $1,500/mo for ongoing SEO. Ad spend for Local Services Ads or Google Ads is a separate bill, paid to Google.

Choosing a channel

Should you invest in SEO, Local Services Ads, or both?

It depends on your trade, how urgent the jobs are, and how soon you need calls. Local Services Ads charge per valid lead and can start soon after Google verifies you. Local SEO takes months, but organic clicks aren't billed. In the benchmarks shown here, LSA leads cost less than Search ad leads in the same trades.

  • Start with local SEO

    • Your trade isn’t eligible for Local Services Ads
    • Jobs are planned and researched first: remodels, windows, painting
    • You want traffic that isn’t billed per click
  • Start with Local Services Ads

    • Your trade is eligible and jobs are urgent: a leak, a dead AC unit
    • Someone answers the phone fast
    • You want leads soon after Google finishes verification
  • Run both

    • LSA for urgent jobs now, SEO for planned jobs and the months ahead
    • Both show on the same results page, so you cover more of it
    • Ads bring calls while new pages and reviews build up

Questions trade owners ask

Home service marketing FAQ

What does a home service marketing agency do?

It helps a trade business get found and called by people in its service area. At Verlua that means four things: a website built around your job types and towns, local SEO that grows your organic Google traffic, Google Business Profile work so you show up in the map results, and Local Services Ads and Google Ads management when paid leads make sense. Each month we report from Google Search Console, plus the calls and form requests the site brings in.

How much does home service marketing cost?

Website builds and rebuilds typically run $2,500 – $5,000. Ongoing local SEO is $1,500/mo, and launch months, when we are building or doing heavy setup, are $2,500/mo. A common plan is $2,500/mo for the first 2 months, then $1,500/mo. Ad spend for Local Services Ads or Google Ads is a separate bill, paid to Google on your own payment method. Exact scope and price are confirmed after a free audit or discovery call.

How much does a lead cost for a home service business?

It depends on the channel and the trade. In LocaliQ's home-services data (Google and Microsoft search ad campaigns from April 2024 to March 2025), search ads averaged $90.92 per lead. Local Services Ads ran lower in SearchLight's February 2026 sample of 888 contractors: $53 per lead on average, with electrical at $39, HVAC at $51 and plumbing at $57. To compare channels, divide cost per lead by your close rate. At SearchLight's 43.9% book rate, a $53 lead works out to about $121 per booked job.

Should a home service company start with SEO or Local Services Ads?

If your trade is eligible for Local Services Ads and someone answers the phone fast, LSA can bring leads soon after Google finishes verification, because you pay per valid lead instead of waiting to rank. Local SEO takes months, not days, but organic clicks are not billed per click. Running both covers more of the results page: LSA for urgent jobs now, SEO for the planned jobs people research first.

Do the numbers on this page count leads?

No. The figures in the results section are organic Google search clicks and impressions from each site's Search Console property, comparing Jun 18–Sep 15, 2026 with Mar 20–Jun 17, 2026. A click is a visit from Google search. It is not a call, a form request or a booked job, and we don't present it as one.

Is there a long-term contract?

No minimum contract. SEO and ads management are billed month to month. If you run Local Services Ads or Google Ads, Google bills the ad spend to your own payment method, so you can pause or change the budget whenever you want.

Do you work with home service companies outside Sacramento?

Yes. Verlua is based in Roseville, California, and most of the home-service sites on this page serve the Sacramento region and Placer County. We have also built sites for Boise Gutter Guards in Idaho and GVX Remodeling in Vancouver, Washington. Local SEO and ads are set up around your own service area, wherever it is.
